What are fixed brackets?

Fixed brackets — also called braces are small attachments (metal or ceramic) bonded to each tooth. An orthodontic wire connects them and applies controlled pressure to gradually move your teeth.

This is the most proven orthodontic treatment in the world. It can correct 100% of malocclusion types, from the simplest to the most complex cases: crowding, spacing, jaw misalignment, bite problems.

Whether you choose classic metal braces or more discreet ceramic brackets, you benefit from precise 3D control of every tooth movement.

4

Final result

Once the goal is achieved, the braces are removed. You discover your new smile!

5

Lifetime retention

To maintain your results, a retainer wire is bonded behind your teeth. Wearing a night guard is also recommended.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt? +

The placement itself is completely painless. In the following days, and after each adjustment, you may experience slight discomfort or tooth sensitivity for 2-3 days. This is normal and over-the-counter pain relievers can help.

How long does treatment last? +

On average 12 to 24 months, depending on the complexity of your case. Simple corrections can be completed in less than a year, while complex cases may require up to 30 months. During your consultation, Dr Benguira will give you a precise estimate.

What can I eat? +

You can eat most of your favorite foods, but avoid very hard foods (ice, whole nuts, hard candy) and very sticky foods (caramel, chewing gum). These foods can debond a bracket or break the wire. You will receive a complete list during placement.

How do I clean my braces? +

Brush your teeth after every meal for 2 minutes, cleaning around each bracket. Use an interdental brush or special orthodontic floss to clean under the wire. A water flosser (Waterpik) can also help. Good hygiene is essential to prevent stains and cavities.
