Some general dentists offer orthodontic care to their patients after short training courses taken over a weekend or even a day offered by certain commercial companies, such as Invisalign.
The major problem with this is that they do not have the training or experience necessary to plan and execute as it should be an orthodontic treatment which can be complex and which has an effect on your face and your facial profile!
In Canada, you must have completed a three-year residency after studying dentistry to be a recognized specialist.
